Practice Drawing No.24

  • Open the Catia V5 application. The assembly workbench is opened it is default. Close the assembly workbench and Go to START--->MECHANICAL DESIGN---->PART DESIGN, Now enter the part name what you want and click the enable hybrid design checkbox and ok.

  • Select YZ plane in the specification tree and then choose sketch tool from the sketcher toolbar.

  • Choose rectangle tool, draw as shown in fig and constraint this.

  • Click exit workbench, choose pad tool from sketch based features. Pad definition dialog box is open. Enter 51mm in the length spinner and click ok.

  • Select back side face of the pad1 feature and click sketch. Now select/choose profile tool and draw as shown in fig.

  • Click exit workbench, choose pad tool. Pad definition dialog box is open. Enter 10mm in the length spinner and click ok.

  • Now select front face of the pad2 feature and click sketch. Draw as shown in fig by using circle and line tool. Then constraint this.

  • Click exit workbench, choose pad tool. Pad definition dialog box is open. Enter 29mm in the length spinner and click ok.




  • Now select side face of the pad1 feature and click sketch. Choose profile tool, draw as shown in fig.

  • Click exit workbench, choose pad tool. Pad definition dialog box is open. Enter 10mm in the length spinner and click ok.

  • Select the front face of the pad3 feature and click sketch. Choose circle tool, draw as shown in fig and constraint this.

  • Click exit workbench, choose pocket tool. Pocket definition dialog box is open. Select up to next in type and click ok.

  • Choose point tool. Point definition dialog box is open. Enter X=-91.5mm, Y=-41mm, Z=139mm and click ok.

  • Now select plane tool. Plane definition dialog box is open. Select plane type as parallel through points, select reference as xy plane and select point1.

  • Now select the new plane and click sketch. Draw two circles as shown in fig and constraint this.

  • Click exit workbench, choose pad tool. Pad definition dialog box is open. Enter “up to next” in type and click ok.

  • Now select the top face of the pad1 feature and choose circle tool, draw two circles as shown in fig. click exit workbench, choose pocket tool, select up to next in type and click ok.

  • Choose edge fillet tool. Edge fillet definition dialog box is open. Enter 6mm in the radius and select the lines as shown in fig. and click ok.

  • Again choose edge fillet tool. Edge fillet definition dialog box is open. Enter 6mm in the radius and select the lines as shown in fig. and click ok.

  • The final model is shown in fig
